To decipher consciousness, cognition, and intelligence. As an engineer I want to invent and build systems that do wonderful, breathtaking things. To solve issues that humanity faces. As a thinking, living, breathing human being with diverse interests, I'd like to realize a consistent gestaltian picture of everything I do, if that were possible. To ultimately synthesize form, function, and meaning into one beautiful conceptual whole. This very briefly is my statement of purpose. This is my academic background - a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (robotics), a master's degree in physics, and another master's degree in computer science (ai). My interests and the work I have done, academically and professionally, include the following areas: artificial intelligence, cognition, robotics, computer vision, adaptive control, hand-eye coordination, and active visual servoing. Also, machine learning, pattern recognition, and computational biology. Also, operating systems internals, distributed systems, file-systems, and, more recently, information classification and information retrieval.
